Upper Hunter Shire Council has officially welcomed a group of new Australian citizens during a citizenship ceremony held on Monday 18 May.
The ceremony recognised residents from a wide range of countries, including the Philippines, Uruguay, Ireland, South Africa, Argentina, China, the United States, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Solomon Islands, Nepal and Canada.
Council representatives acknowledged the significance of the occasion, describing Australian citizenship as a major commitment and an important milestone in each recipient’s life.
The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the new citizens, who were formally welcomed into the Australian community and the Upper Hunter region.
Upper Hunter Shire Council said it was honoured to share the moment with the new Australians and encouraged the broader community to join in welcoming them.
