Three new police officers are set to join Hunter Valley Police District, as part of the largest class of NSW Police recruits sworn in in 14 years.
Class 369, made up of 353 probationary constables, was sworn in today, the fifth consecutive recruit class to set a new recruitment record as the State Government continues its push to rebuild the NSW Police Force. Of the new officers, 54 have been deployed to the Northern Region, which includes the Hunter Valley, with three of those confirmed for the Hunter Valley Police District. The addition brings the total number of new recruits posted to the Hunter Valley to 46 since the current government took office.
The new constables will begin 12 months of on-the-job training at their new home stations from Monday.
The class reflects a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The eldest recruit is 59, while the youngest recruit is just 18. Recruits were born in a total of 26 different countries, and 15 First Nations peoples are among those attesting today. The class is made up of 261 men and 92 women, with seven recruits receiving awards for outstanding academic or physical achievement.
