Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Golden Highway at Mudies Creek, Whittingham, as night work continues to complete a major upgrade at the site.
Transport for NSW has upgraded the Golden Highway at Mudies Creek to improve flood immunity, building a new 28-metre-long bridge across Mudies Creek that sits five metres higher than the existing road level and is designed to withstand a one-in-100-year flood event. The bridge opened to traffic in mid-July 2026.
Work is being carried out over three nights, from 7pm to 5am, from Wednesday 19 August to Friday 21 August, weather permitting, to complete asphalt work and local driveway connections. During this time, traffic will be managed through a temporary two-way shuttle flow arrangement, with local resident access maintained and traffic control assisting pedestrians and cyclists through the work area.
Motorists should expect delays of up to five minutes due to the traffic control in place. Transport for NSW is advising motorists to follow signage and directions from the traffic control team, with variable message signs in place and live updates available on Live Traffic NSW.
