Singleton Council has launched its first Community Satisfaction Survey in five years, seeking feedback from residents on its services, facilities and overall performance.

The survey will be conducted via telephone by independent consultant Micromex Research. Residents aged 18 and over across the Singleton local government area will be randomly selected and contacted Monday to Friday between 1pm and 8:30pm, and Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

Acting General Manager Melinda Curtis said the survey was an important part of Council’s ongoing commitment to understanding community sentiment.

“The reason Council exists is to serve our community, so it’s important for us to understand what people value, what they think is being done well, and what Council can do to improve the experience for our residents,” she said.

Participants will be asked to rate both the importance of Council services and their current level of satisfaction, covering everything from parks and playgrounds to how Council communicates with residents. The survey uses open-ended questions and rating scales across all Council functions.

The last comparable survey was conducted in 2021, when 81 per cent of residents said they were at least somewhat satisfied with Council’s performance over the previous 12 months. Roads, transport, traffic and parking were identified as the most important issues facing the community at that time.

Mrs Curtis said the 2026 survey had been structured to allow direct comparison with the 2021 results.

“The 2026 survey has been structured so that the information we receive is comparable to the results in 2021, allowing us to gauge what has changed in the past five years both in terms of community expectations and Council performance,” she said.
