Police appeal for help after break-in and pursuit in Cessnock

Police are appealing for public assistance following a break and enter and a car pursuit in the Hunter Valley.

About 3am yesterday (Monday 3 August 2026), officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District were patrolling on Cessnock Road, Neath, when they attempted to stop a white Toyota van being driven dangerously. When the van failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, continuing through Station Street, Weston, before being terminated due to safety concerns.

About an hour later, police were called to a hotel on Wollombi Road, Cessnock, following reports of a break and enter. Police were told the business was broken into sometime between 1.30am and 4am, with an unknown man ransacking the counter and kitchen area before stealing a white van and leaving the scene.

A crime scene has been established, and detectives have commenced an investigation. Inquiries have since established the two incidents are linked.

Detectives have released an image of the vehicle involved (also provided in this article), which is a 2018 white Toyota HiAce van with NSW registration FGI63L.
