More than $35,000 has been raised for Dolly’s Charity Shop, helping to furnish two new palliative care rooms at Singleton Hospital.
The funds were raised through a community fundraiser led by Singleton Earthmoving, with director Chris Bennet saying the cause was chosen because of its local impact.
The new special care rooms are expected to be completed by the end of the month and will support families currently receiving palliative care in the area.
Dolly’s Charity Shop volunteer Kay Sullivan said the donation would go a long way in easing pressure on families during a difficult time.
“We’re only volunteers, and raising money is always challenging, but this support will make such a difference for the families we’re helping in Singleton,” she said.
Mr Bennet said personal illnesses impacted his decision to help the cause.
“This was a bit of a personal challenge for me as I’ve got a couple of mates that are suffering illnesses,” he said,
He said while the fundraiser has already raised more than $35,000, donations are still open.
