Muswellbrook local Tracey Lambert has been named the second recipient of the Tori Cowburn Scholarship, established by Thiess to honour the late Tori Cowburn and her contributions to the mining industry and the Hunter Valley community.
The scholarship was created in 2024 following Tori’s tragic passing in the June 2023 Hunter Valley bus crash near Greta. A Singleton local, Tori had worked in the mining industry since completing Year 12 at Singleton High School in 2011.
Awarded annually, the scholarship supports female Hunter Valley residents studying mining‑related disciplines at university, helping to create pathways for women in the industry.
Tracey is in her first year of a Bachelor of Accounting at the University of New England and works full‑time as an Administration Officer with Thiess’ Mount Pleasant Operation near Muswellbrook.
