EnergyCo has released a refined corridor for the proposed transmission line between Muswellbrook and Walcha, following months of community consultation and technical assessment.
A three‑kilometre‑wide study area released last October has now been narrowed to a one‑kilometre corridor, linking the New England Renewable Energy Zone to the existing electricity grid at Bayswater Power Station.

EnergyCo received around 480 submissions from community members and stakeholders during the consultation period. The refined corridor has reduced the number of impacted landholders from about 200 to around 150.
The updated alignment avoids environmentally sensitive areas at Timor Caves and near Barry, while visual impacts have also been reduced for properties near Gundy, Waverly and Timor by locating infrastructure further from homes and public viewpoints.
An Environmental Impact Statement is now being developed for the proposed transmission line, based on a narrower corridor of about 250 metres within the broader one‑kilometre zone.
