Muswellbrook Shire Council will establish a new Planning and Development Community Reference Group to help guide the future growth of Denman as the town prepares for significant change.
The Reference Group will provide strategic advice to Council on planning and development matters, ensuring future growth is managed appropriately while maintaining the lifestyle and community connections valued by residents.
Council says Denman is already experiencing increased development activity, with residential projects underway and several new applications currently under consideration. If approved, the developments are expected to significantly increase the town’s population, alongside growing interest from businesses seeking to establish in the area.
Mayor Jeff Drayton said the Reference Group would give the community a direct role in shaping Denman’s future.
“Denman is growing, and with that comes both opportunity and responsibility,” he said.
“We want to make sure we plan for growth properly and it reflects the priorities of the people who live here.”
The Reference Group will include the mayor, general manager, councillors and community representatives, including nominees from the Denman Chamber of Commerce and the property sector.
Applications for community representative positions are open until 5pm on Tuesday, June 9, with appointments to be considered at Council’s June Ordinary Meeting.
