Cannabis worth $520,000 seized in Cessnock drug raid

Detectives have seized an estimated 520,000 dollars’ worth of cannabis after uncovering an elaborate hydroponic growing operation at a Cessnock home.

About 7.30am yesterday, Hunter Valley Detectives and the Hunter Valley Proactive Crime Team attended the property to execute a search warrant. During the search, officers located the hydroponic setup along with 260 mature cannabis plants, cannabis seedlings, dried cannabis and additional hydroponic equipment.

Police also found the premises had been illegally connected to the power grid. The connection was disconnected with the assistance of a utility provider.

The scene was forensically examined by specialist police, with inquiries into the matter continuing by Hunter Valley Police District.
