Muswellbrook has a new main road following a declaration by the State Government, aimed at supporting the movement of large vehicles across the region.
Main Road No. 709 covers the route from the intersection of Denman Road and Bengalla Road, continuing via Bengalla Road and Wybong Road to the Golden Highway at Sandy Hollow.
The declaration is associated with changes needed to manage oversize and overmass vehicles travelling along the state road network. It comes as part of transport arrangements linked to the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, one of several zones being developed across the state to support new energy infrastructure.
