A 16-hour siege at a Muswellbrook home has ended with a man in hospital following a police operation that stretched through the night and into the early hours of this morning.

Officers attached to the Hunter Valley Police District attended a home on Parkinson Avenue, Muswellbrook, about 2:05pm yesterday (Thursday 25 June) to execute an arrest warrant. When the 58-year-old man refused to leave the property and allegedly threatened police, a perimeter was established and a siege situation developed.

Specialist police moved in shortly before 6am today, using several tactics including beanbag rounds to arrest the man. He was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being transported to John Hunter Hospital for further assessment.
