The father of murdered 10-year-old Biddy Porter has spoken of his exhaustion and heartbreak following another day of coronial inquest proceedings, vowing to continue fighting for justice and systemic change.

Her killer was found guilty but not criminally responsible during a hearing in the Supreme Court in November 2021.

Her father, Dom, has been attending the coronial inquest into her death and released a statement, describing the experience as physically and emotionally overwhelming.

“Tonight I am broken. But I am still here. And I am still fighting for Biddy,” he said.

Dom said he was forced to leave the courtroom more than once during the day due to distress, and described the trauma of the process as one that sits not only in the mind but throughout the body.

Despite his grief, Dom thanked the Coroner and their team for the respect shown to Biddy’s memory and his family’s loss throughout the inquest. He also expressed deep gratitude to the many supporters who have attended proceedings in person or via video link.

Dom said his fight extends beyond his own family, with a commitment to pushing for changes to the systems he believes failed his daughter.

“Tomorrow I will come back to fight for other families. To honour Biddy by pushing for change. To make sure no other family has to endure what we have endured,” he said.
