Broke Fordwich has claimed top honours in the 2026 Top Tourism Town Awards, breaking a two‑year run of silver medals to take gold in the Tiny Tourism Town category.
The historic Upper Hunter village, with a population under 1,500, secured the top spot in the NSW Tourism Industry Council awards after receiving strong public support. The award was presented at the LGNSW Destination and Visitor Economy Conference in Maitland on Wednesday.
Singleton Mayor Sue Moore, accepted the award on behalf of the Broke Fordwich community, saying the win was a fitting reward after six years of consistent recognition as one of the state’s leading regional destinations.
“We’re incredibly proud of Broke’s silver results over recent years, but it has been ready for its golden moment — and now it’s here,” Cr Moore said.
She said Broke Fordwich’s blend of heritage, arts, food and wine, and country charm continued to attract visitors seeking quieter, more personal travel experiences. The village has recorded an eight per cent increase in visitation over the past 12 months, delivering a ten per cent boost to the local economy.
Cr Moore said the recognition would help encourage even more travellers to experience what Broke Fordwich has to offer, whether for a weekend escape or a longer stay.
