A teenage boy has been charged following a series of alleged offences across Muswellbrook last weekend, including an assault, break‑ins and the theft of a council vehicle.

Police allege that about 10pm on Friday 22 May, a 17‑year‑old boy and two other people assaulted a bottle shop attendant on Maitland Street, before stealing alcohol. The staff member, a 46‑year‑old man, was not injured.

Officers will allege the teenager later broke into a council building on the same street and stole keys to a Nissan Navara before driving away. Police further allege the group returned to the building several hours later, causing extensive damage to furniture, electrical items and another vehicle.

He has been charged with 10 offences and was granted conditional bail at Parramatta Childrens Court yesterday. He’ll appear before Muswellbrook Children’s Court next month. A 12‑year‑old girl and a 13‑year‑old boy will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
