Muswellbrook gains quake disaster declaration

A win for Muswellbrook Shire Council over the State Government.

The LGA’s earthquake activity this year has finally been declared a Natural Disaster.

It follows over 200 responses to a community survey and loud lobbying to the Minister Jihad Dib.

Mayor Jeff Drayton said this shows people power works.

The natural disaster declaration also means the State and Federal Governments will provide funding to repair damaged public infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
