With close to 500 people already working on construction and specialist trades in the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone, a new guide is helping people understand how they can be part of the state’s growing clean energy workforce.

The Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Jobs Guide sets out the jobs, skills, qualifications and career pathways needed to plan, build, operate and maintain renewable energy infrastructure. It is designed for school students, university and trades students, jobseekers, career changers, employers, educators, First Nations people, career advisers and women considering careers in traditionally male-dominated industries.

The launch comes as the State’s renewable energy pipeline continues to grow. Modelling indicates more than 9,000 jobs at peak construction activity and more than 4,450 long-term operations and maintenance roles across NSW renewable energy projects. The guide is available at energyco.nsw.gov.au/jobs-guide.

EnergyCo Chief Executive Officer Hannah McCaughey said the transformation was creating real opportunities for communities across the state.

“The Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Jobs Guide helps people see what those opportunities look like, where they are emerging, and the pathways available to get there,” she said.
