While filming the music video for their new single Street of Dreams in Mexico City, U2 had their plans thrown into chaos when a sudden thunderstorm swept through, knocking out the generators powering the production.

With filming grinding to a halt, the crew had a decision to make. Pack up for the day… or get creative.

The balcony that saved the shoot

Instead of calling it quits, Bono and the production team spotted an apartment overlooking the square where they were filming and asked the residents an unusual question: could they borrow their balcony?

The family happily agreed, giving the band the perfect vantage point to continue filming while fans gathered in the streets below.

What started as an emergency backup plan ended up becoming one of the most memorable parts of the finished music video.
