A truck driver has died after his vehicle crashed into a tree in the Hunter Valley earlier today.
Emergency services were called to Mirannie Road at Mirannie, near Singleton, just before 9am on Thursday following reports of a crash.
Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District found a garbage truck had veered off the road, struck a tree and rolled down a steep embankment.
The male driver died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 40s.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
