The bus company involved in this week’s fatal bus crash at Greta has defended itself after being hit with a number of defect notices and safety infringements.

Police conducted a snap safety audit on LINQ Buslines depots yesterday in light of the disaster late on Sunday night.

Officers found a cracked windscreen, oil leaks, inoperative seat belts and vehicle lights and insecure seats but in a statement the company said the one major defect identified in the fleet has been rectified and the minor defects are being rectified in accordance with the timelines set by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
