As the construction of Singleton’s long‑awaited bypass powers ahead, Singleton Council has begun a review of its Town Centre Masterplan and is asking the community to help shape the future of the CBD.
The Masterplan, adopted in 2013, is being revisited to understand how the town centre can adapt once the bypass begins diverting traffic later this year. The bypass is expected to reduce traffic in the CBD by 15 to 35 per cent.
Mayor Sue Moore said the review was a proactive opportunity to prepare for a major shift in how people move through the town.
“This is a prime opportunity to plan ahead and continue enhancing the CBD experience for locals, businesses and visitors alike,” she said.
“We want to ensure our town centre continues to thrive as a destination people choose to leave the highway to visit — not just pass by.”
Council has also partnered with Transport for NSW on planning activities during bypass construction, including a Healthy Streets Assessment and workshops focused on future improvements to George Street.
The online survey is open from 18 February to 11 March, and can be found here.
