
A rate rise has been given the green light by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal for the Upper Hunter, following a submission by council for a special variation.
Upper Hunter Shire Council applied for a 33 percent increase over 3 years to combat an operational deficit.

The final decision was handed down today, with council awarded the full amount requested.
During the consultation period 37 residents submitted feedback, whilst 550 people returned survey responses.
Council will now determine when the rate change is implemented and if they apply the permitted increase in full.
