Police believe a violent home invasion in Muswellbrook over the weekend was a targeted attack.
Five people with their faces covered forced their way into the Forbes Street home in the early hours of Saturday.
They were armed with a range of weapons including a hammer and machete.

Detective Inspector Matt Zimmer said four occupants of the house and two dogs were injured by the attackers.
