A major milestone has been reached in addressing overcrowding across the Upper Hunter, with plans for a new school precinct at Huntlee now on public exhibition.
The proposal includes a new public preschool for 60 students, a primary school for 500, and a high school catering for up to 1,000 students.
The project has been a long-term advocacy goal for Singleton Council, first identified as a key priority in the 2018–19 Advocacy Agenda.
Council says the new education facilities are critical to supporting Huntlee’s rapidly growing community and easing pressure on Singleton High School.

The Department of Education’s concept plans are available for public feedback until Sunday, 24 November 2025, and can be viewed via the NSW Planning Portal.
Residents are encouraged to review the proposal and share their thoughts before the consultation period closes.
