Nominations have opened for the Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame, with Singleton Council calling on the community to recognise locals who have achieved acclaim in their field.
Now in its 17th year, the Hall of Fame honours individuals, organisations and families with a connection to Singleton who have reached state, national or international prominence. Categories include Arts, Science and Education; Community Service; Sport; Public Service; Business, Industry and Tourism; and Meritorious Family, with successful nominees awarded a paver on the footpath between Singleton Civic Centre and Singleton Public Library.
There are currently 84 names on the list.
“The Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame is a great way for everyone in our community to celebrate and immortalise the hard work, achievements and dedication of our fellow residents and those with a strong connection to the Singleton local government area,” said Singleton Mayor Sue Moore.
Cr Moore said the Hall of Fame committee had reviewed its selection criteria this year to broaden the eligibility of sporting achievements, and encouraged people who had previously submitted unsuccessful nominations, or thought their nominee didn’t meet the criteria, to reconsider. Nominations can be lodged online, or Council will post out a paper nomination form on request.
