An Upper Hunter car dealer expects private car sales to pick up again once interest rates fall in the next few months.
The number of mum and dad buyers fell to unprecedented lows in the second half of last year according to the official stats while commercial sales remained reasonably steady.
The report also reveals that SUVs and light commercial vehicles (utes) have retained their dominance in the Australian market, comprising over 80% of sales in the past 12 months, while it is anticipated that Toyota will remain the most popular brand for consumers.
