New domestic violence refuge for Singleton

New state-of-the-art emergency accommodation and services for women and children escaping domestic violence are set to be established in Singleton.

The new $5.5-million facility is being funded by the State Government with Glencore also tipping in $250,000.

Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Jodie Harrison said the refuge will include six self-contained private safe spaces.

A DA for the facility has been lodged and will be determined by the Regional Planning Panel.

It’s hoped the new Core and Cluster place will be ready to open by the end of 2024.
