A 21-year-old motorcycle rider has died following a crash on Putty Road in the Hunter region this morning.
Emergency services were called to Howes Valley, around 50 kilometres south‑west of Singleton, at about 10.35am today (January 26, 2026) after reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a Toyota Hilux.
Police say the young rider died before first responders arrived.
The driver of the Hilux, a 48-year-old man, was uninjured and was taken to Singleton Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District have established a crime scene, which will form part of a coronial investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Putty Road is currently closed between Putty and Milbrodale and is expected to remain closed for an extended period. Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area.
