Several NSW Fire Crews supported by Rural Fire Service fought for hours to extinguish a house fire that started late Tuesday night.
The Newcastle Herald reports the occupant who is a wildlife carer was able to self-evacuate, however crews weren’t able to save all of the animals.
An Emergency Services Spokesperson told the paper the structural integrity of the home coupled with an abundance of possessions hindered response efforts and added to the fuel load.

Whilst the fire completely destroyed the home, Fire Fighters managed to stop the fire spreading to neighboring properties
