Police have completed a two‑day knife scanning operation across three Upper Hunter communities, with officers reporting no weapons were found. The operation ran on Tuesday 10 February and Wednesday 11 February at locations in Muswellbrook, Singleton and Cessnock.
During the effort, officers engaged with business owners and community members as they conducted scans of several people in each location. While no knives were detected, police issued four infringement notices for alleged shoplifting offences.
Inquiries are continuing into a fifth reported shoplifting incident. Police say these checks are part of ongoing work to improve safety around shopping precincts and public transport areas.
Authorities say similar operations will continue across the region in the coming months as part of their proactive policing strategy.
