Hunter residents are being encouraged to get behind World Down Syndrome Day this Saturday by taking part in the annual “pull‑up your socks” campaign. The 2026 theme, Together Against Loneliness, focuses on reducing social isolation and building more meaningful, inclusive friendships for people with Down Syndrome.

Down Syndrome NSW is urging the community to show support by buying and wearing its themed socks, with designs ranging from Hoppy Steps and Happy Steps to Colour Me Up, Up! Not Down and The Only Way Is Up. AFL fans can also choose Sydney‑inspired designs including Sydney Checkered and Sydney Swan Stripes.

The organisation says every pair sold helps fund essential programs and advocacy work across the state, creating more welcoming environments for people with Down Syndrome. The socks are being sold in partnership with Posisocks, which has joined the initiative to help promote a more inclusive NSW.
