The State Government has relaunched its Washing Machine Exchange Program, offering thousands of discounted energy‑efficient washing machines to help households cut rising power and water bills.
Now in its second year, the initiative provides eligible pensioners, veterans and social housing tenants with a new 8‑kilogram front‑loading washing machine for $250 when they trade in their old top‑loader. The price includes delivery to any part of New South Wales, professional installation, and recycling of the old appliance.
The program is delivered in partnership with The Good Guys Commercial and has again attracted strong interest following overwhelming demand during its first round, when more than 5,000 machines were claimed within days.
According to the government, switching to a front‑loading machine can save households up to $300 a year in reduced water and electricity costs. Water savings from the program are expected to exceed 230 million litres by the end of this round, with an estimated 107 million litres already saved.
The Washing Machine Exchange Program is part of broader efforts to reduce water consumption and ease cost‑of‑living pressures across NSW.
Residents can check eligibility and apply through the Washing Machine Exchange Program website.
