A motorcycle rider has died, and another is in a critical condition following a two-motorcycle collision on Putty Road in the Hunter Region yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Garland Valley, approximately 90km west of Cessnock, at about 3:20pm on Sunday, September 7.
Upon arrival, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command found two motorcycles had collided. A man in his 50s, one of the riders, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has not yet been formally identified.
The second rider, a 58-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to a hospital. He remains in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established, and specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit conducted a forensic examination of the area. A report on the incident will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
