We could be set for a new Upper Hunter Shire Mayor tonight.
That’s the inside word as the elections take place at tonight’s ordinary council meeting. Mayor Maurice Collison will contest again, but unlike Muswellbrook’s Jeff Drayton, Collison is expected to receive some competition for the role.
Sources say it’s expected to be a close election that could go either way.

Once the Mayor and Deputy Mayor is elected, Council will also discuss a motion on the gun buyback scheme, and the potential banning of devices like smart glasses at secret recording devices at council pools, among others.
