Muswellbrook Shire residents and businesses are being invited to provide feedback on a proposed half‑day public holiday linked to the Muswellbrook Mayor’s Cup and Big Dance Party.
Council is considering applying for the local public holiday to be held on Tuesday, 3 November, running from noon until 6pm. The proposal is designed to allow the community to come together and attend the popular race meeting and associated celebrations.
Council says the holiday aims to support local businesses while recognising the significance of the Mayor’s Cup as a major community event in the Upper Hunter.
As part of the process, community consultation is being undertaken to gauge the potential impacts and level of support for the half‑day holiday.
Feedback on the proposal is open until Tuesday, 10 April.
