Any hope of being acquitted or a reduced sentence for a brutal Upper Hunter murderer has been dashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal.
Sayle Kenneth Newson was sentenced to a maximum 27 years behind bars for the gruesome 2014 murder of Carly McBride.

He and another man then dumped her body in bushland at Owens Gap near Scone. Her skeletal remains were not found for almost two years.
The court has dismissed his appeal against the conviction and length of sentence.
