AGL is expected to make a final decision by the end of the year if it will go ahead with a mass battery storage project at the site of the former Liddell Power Station.
The feasibility of the move has received a boost with the project winning support and funding from the State and Federal Governments following a tender for renewable energy capacity earlier this year.
The 500-megawatt battery is one of a number of options being considered for the site by AGL.
