An Upper Hunter horse stud worker was so drunk when police pulled him over he had trouble entering his passcode into his phone to produce his licence and scrolled past the Service New South Wales app several times before being assisted by officers.

23 year old IVAN GILLEUM FRY told police he had shared a bottle of wine with a female friend at the Belmore Hotel before getting behind the wheel.

The South African National, who works at Yarramun Park, blew 0.190 when he was tested at Scone Police Station late on May 6 after being pulled over in Liverpool Street.

“I was only going home. I wasn’t going to kill anyone,” FRY told police.

In Scone Local Court Magistrate Kevin Hockey blasted the man during sentencing.

“You should of thank them from stopping you from killing someone,” he told FRY.

“I presided over a case in Sydney where a young man lost control of his car at Oatlands and killed four young children. He is now serving 22 years in jail.”

FRY pleaded guilty and lost his licence for six months, ordered to have an interlock device fitted to his car for two years and was fined two-thousand dollars.
