Motorists travelling between the Port of Newcastle and the Central West are being urged to allow extra time again this week, with roadworks and oversize vehicle movements expected to cause cumulative delays on State roads.

Transport for NSW says maintenance and construction work is under way on the Pacific, New England, Golden and Castlereagh highways. Those corridors are regularly used by oversize and overmass vehicles servicing industries across the region, including deliveries from the Port of Newcastle to the Uungula Wind Farm, which run six days a week. The deliveries paused over the October long weekend and resumed today.

Drivers on the Golden Highway between Denman and Dunedoo can expect delays of up to 10 minutes at several sites. These include a pull over bay near Cowan’s Bus Service at Sandy Hollow, lane widening near Barnett Street at Merriwa, and a pull over bay east of Back Creek at Leadville. Stop/slow conditions are in place for road work near Peberdy’s Road at Sandy Hollow.
