Two Hunter organisations are among 19 groups across NSW to receive funding under the latest round of the State Government’s Fostering Innovation Sponsorship Program.
Hunter iF will receive support to run the 2026 Hunter Innovation Festival and Regional Roadshow, while the University of Newcastle has been funded to deliver a Regional Health Innovation Series. The two initiatives form part of a $400,000 funding pool spread across 19 organisations statewide, supporting events that connect startups, researchers, investors and industry.
The latest round includes projects ranging from climate tech awards and health innovation exchanges to AI-focused programs and pitch nights, with a strong focus on regional participation and high-growth sectors. The State Government says the initiatives align with its Innovation Blueprint and Industry Policy, targeting priorities including housing, net zero and local manufacturing.
Minister for the Hunter Yasmin Catley described the region as an innovation powerhouse, saying the investment backed the people, ideas and businesses driving the Hunter’s future. She said the funding reflected the government’s commitment to supporting local jobs and industry so the region could continue to thrive.
