From the powerhouse studio that delivered the mind-bending visuals of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the neon-drenched action of KPop Demon Hunters, Sony Pictures Animation is back. But this time, they’re trading multiverses and monster-slaying for an all-animal sports spectacle, and frankly, the stakes have never been higher.
Get ready to meet Will in the new original action-comedy, GOAT. Will isn’t your average barnyard critter; he’s a small goat with a colossal dream: to play roarball, a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the fastest, fiercest animals on the planet. Think less gentle grazing, more brutal, interspecies rugby with hooves.
Will has earned his spot with the pros, but his new teammates, a roster likely featuring apex predators and muscled mammoths, aren’t exactly thrilled about having a little goat on the field. It’s the classic underdog story, but with a wonderfully cheeky animal kingdom twist. Will’s determined mantra? “Smalls can ball!”
The voice cast is absolutely stacked, promising vocal performances as dynamic as the on-field action:
- Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things) leads as the determined Will.
- Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane) voices Jett, a black leopard star player.
- Four-time NBA Champion and producer Stephen Curry lends his voice and sports credibility as Lenny the giraffe.
- Fan favourites like Nicola Coughlan, Nick Kroll, and David Harbour are also on the roster.
- Rounding out the talent are Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Sherry Cola, hip hop/country artist Jelly Roll, and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.
The film is directed by Tyree Dillihay, known for his work on shows like Bob’s Burgers. The directorial choice, paired with the pedigree of producers Michelle Raimo Kouyate, Stephen Curry, and Rodney Rothman (a writer on Spider-Verse), suggests a winning blend of witty humour, vibrant animation, and genuine heart.
GOAT is scheduled for release in cinemas globally on February 13, 2026.
