People experiencing hardship in the southern Shoalhaven will have an opportunity to connect with welfare and support services at the upcoming Thrive Together pop-up event in Ulladulla.

The free event provides a safe and welcoming environment for members of the community to access the support they need.

“I encourage everyone in our southern towns and villages doing it tough to come along and learn more about the organisations and services that are here to support you through these challenges,” said Mayor Patricia White.

“Council remains deeply committed to ensuring all people in our community feel seen, heard, and cared for,” she said.

As well as meeting people in your local community, the pop-up event will have service providers who can help with:

  • Cost-of-living relief
  • Financial counselling
  • Housing and welfare support
  • Mental health services
  • Aboriginal service providers
  • Free legal advice

The event will be held on Wednesday 26 November on the lawns of the Ulladulla Civic Centre from 10am to 1pm.

The pop-up has been organised by Council in partnership with Salt Care, Second Bite – Fare Share, Safe Waters, Ulladulla and Districts Community Resources Centre and Southern Cross Housing.

Council has also partnered with Southern Cross Housing to update the new Doing It Tough Guide, a pocket-sized directory of local organisations who offer welfare and support services.

“The Shoalhaven Doing It Tough Guide is an essential tool for the Shoalhaven community—providing clear, easy access to vital support services when people need them most,” said Southern Cross Housing’s General Manager of Housing Services, Shane Meijer.

“Whether facing financial stress, housing challenges, or mental health concerns, the guide connects individuals and families with practical help across the Shoalhaven region. Its updated design and listings make it more accessible than ever,” Mr Meijer said.

The Doing It Tough Guide will be distributed by Council to our local first responders and Council facilities. The Guide can also be found online via Council’s Doing It Tough webpage or on Southern Cross Housing’s Path2Home webpage.
