With the Labour Day public holiday on Monday 6th of October 2025, councils across the Upper Hunter and surrounding areas have confirmed closures and adjusted operating hours.
Singleton Council
A number of Singleton services will close on Monday, including the administration building, Singleton Public Library, the Youth Venue, children’s services, the animal management facility and the arts and cultural centre.
Essential care for animals will continue, and the waste management facility will remain open from 9am to 4.30pm. Kerbside collections will run as normal.
The Visitor Information Centre will open from 10am to 3pm, while the Gym and Swim will operate on Friday 5am-8pm, Saturday 6am-6pm, Sunday 10am-6pm, and Monday 10am-6pm. Lake St Clair Park remains fully booked for camping but day passes are still available.
Muswellbrook Shire Council
Muswellbrook Council facilities will close on Friday the 3rd and Monday the 6th of October, including the administration centre, libraries, the arts centre, visitor centre, waste facilities, water and works depots.
The Animal Care Facility will be open on Friday but closed on Monday.
The Muswellbrook Aquatic and Fitness Centre will open from 9am to 4pm both Friday and Monday, with normal operating hours on Saturday.
Libraries across the Shire will also close across the long weekend, with Muswellbrook Library open only on Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
Upper Hunter Shire Council
Council offices, libraries, youth centres and early learning facilities will be closed on Monday 6th of October.
Waste management facilities will also be shut, though kerbside collections will continue as normal.
The newly re-opened pools across the Shire remain open from 11am to 6pm, while visitor information centres will also operate as usual.
