A heavy vehicle bypass is back on the agenda for Merriwa.
Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell said many locals have raised the option with him in recent weeks since a proposal to remove parking from one side of the town’s main street came to light.
Mr Layzell said the bypass option should be given serious consideration.
It comes after a concession finally for Merriwa residents over a plan to remove parking on one side of the main street to allow ‘renewable energy’ heaving loads to pass through.
Local business owners have been angered after only finding out about the proposal from ACEN Renewables to facilitate the construction of a solar and battery farm near Dunedoo.
Mr Layzell said he has had a frank discussion with the government about the blindsiding of the town.
