Six injured in Greta hot air balloon crash

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked this morning to a hot air balloon accident on Camp Road, near Greta.

Up to six people were injured when the hot air balloon made a hard landing after hitting a bush while attempting to land. It is believed a change in wind conditions was a contributing factor.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has flown two female patients to hospital following the crash. An 80 year old woman has suffered multiple fractures while a 24 year old woman has suffered back and suspected spinal injuries.

Four other people have minor injuries.

The Air Transport Safety Bureau has been notified and is expected to conduct an investigation.

Emergency services also assisted at the scene.
