Justin Timberlake has announced the imminent release of his new album, his first since 2013, with its very own (nature-heavy) trailer.
The trailer takes Tennessee-born Timberlake back to his roots – literally. “This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family,” he voices over images of him running through fields and brooding on mountaintops. “But more so than any other album I’ve written, where I’m from.”
The new album is titled Man of the Woods (although I can’t help that think Man of the Timber would have been a more pun-tastic title) and it appears to be an apt choice considering rustic, folky vibe of the trailer.
In fact, the whole album certainly looks to be a departure from his days of family-friendly pop (Can’t Stop the Feeling) and slick R&B (Sexyback).
The trailer also features a cameo from none other than Señorita collaborator Pharrell Williams, calling one track a “smash” so hopefully we’ve got at least one banger on our hands.
We’ll begin to find out when his first new track arrives on January 5. Man of the Woods will be released on February 2 – two days before Timberlake’s Superbowl half time performance.
