Disney has finally, finally revealed the brand spanking new cast for the live action remake of Aladdin during their D23 Expo in California.
Relative unknown Canadian-Egyptian actor, Mena Massoud, has been cast in the titular role of Aladdin. His previous credits include hospital drama, Open Heart, and Amazon’s upcoming Jack Ryan series. Check him out from the 0.52 mark below:
Despite now carrying the weight of the world’s shared nostalgia, Massoud seems pretty chuffed with his new role. I mean, who wouldn’t be?
English Power Rangers actress, Naomi Scott, will portray Jasmine.
The iconic role of Genie, previously played by the legendary Robin Williams, has also been sorted with Will Smith taking on the part.
There’s no currently no set release date for the Guy Ritchie directed film but we’ll keep you posted.
