Blink-182's Mark Hoppus reveals he's been battling cancer

Bass player for punk rock outfit Blink-182, Mark Hoppus, has just confirmed he's been battling cancer for the past three months.

The 49-year old musician posted a photo to social media on Wednesday of him sitting in a clinic with the caption, "Yes, hello. One cancer treatment, please."

The post was quickly deleted, but not before fans screenshotted and reposted it.

Hoppus later posted to Twitter confirming the sad news. "For the past three months I've been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. I have cancer. It sucks and I'm scared, and at the same time I'm blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this."

"I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I'm trying to remain hopeful and positive," he continued. "Can't wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future. Love to you all."

Blink-182 have talked openly about releasing new material this year, with Mark Hoppus confirming plans to drop an EP. There's been no news on whether the rocker's cancer update has changed these plans.

Fingers crossed the icon returns to full health soon.
