There's more roadworks on the main drag in the Upper Hunter.
A two kilometre section of the New England Highway northbound from Rix's Creek Lane will be getting upgrades including rebuilding the highway, installing new safety barriers and new line marking.
The rebuild part of the work is expected to take the next four weeks and be carried out between 6pm and 7am Sunday to Thursday.
Following this, work to install the safety barriers and new line marking will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays for six weeks, weather permitting.
For the safety of motorists and workers, lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
