A young girl's beloved sheep has been found alive and wool.

Hunter Valley Police District's Rural Crime Investigators have been able to track down an 8-month-old Border Leicester cross who had been missing from a Dry Creek property near Wingen since October last year.

'Lamby Lamby' had been lovingly hand raised by a young girl after being orphaned at birth.

The lamb's NLIS tag was no longer attached, but investigators were able to use a unique earmark to identify the lost sheep.

To investigators knowledge, Lamby Lamby managed to survive his ordeal without getting fleeced.
